1. What is Eldercoid?
A: It is a mild topical corticosteroid, indicated for use in inflammatory skin conditions.
2. What is the active ingredient?
A: Eldercoid Lipocream - Hydrocortisone-17- butyrate – 0.1% w/w
3. How is it available?
A: Eldercoid Lipocream is available in a tube of 10 gm.
4. What are its indications or uses?
A: Eldercoid is used to reduce inflammation and itchiness in conditions like atopic eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis and psoriasis.
5. What is the right dosage?
A: Eldercoid Lipocream should be applied to the affected area as a thin film two or three time’s daily depending on the severity of the condition.

6. What is to be done in case of a missed dosage?
A: Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
7. What are the precautions while taking the product?
A: Eldercoid is to be used as directed by the physician.
For external use only
Avoid contact with the eyes, lips or mouth.
Should be used only for the prescribed disorder.
The treated skin area should not be bandaged or otherwise covered or wrapped as to be occlusive unless directed by the physician.
Patients should report any signs of local adverse reactions especially under occlusive dressing.
Parents of pediatric patients should be advised not to use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants on a child being treated in the diaper area, as these garments may constitute occlusive dressings.
8. Which drugs should be avoided along with it?
A: Before starting any new medication, talk to your doctor about possible drug interactions.
9. Who cannot take the medicine?
A: Topical corticosteroids are contraindicated in those patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation.
Topical corticosteroids should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Drugs of this class
should not be used extensively on pregnant patients, in large amounts, or for prolonged periods of time.
Caution should be exercised when topical corticosteroids are administered to a nursing woman.
10.What is the time of taking the medicine, dosage and the usual duration?
A: Eldercoid Lipocream ointment (hydrocortisone butyrate 0.1%) should be applied to the affected area as a thin film two or three times daily depending on the severity of the condition. Occlusive dressings may be used for the management of psoriasis or difficult to treat conditions. If an infection develops, the use of occlusive dressings should be discontinued and contact your doctor.
11.What are the possible common and rare adverse effects of the medicine?
A: Side effects are more likely with the stronger steroids, with large amounts applied, with use for a long time and if the area being treated allows more drug penetration (e.g. the face, covered areas or skin folds) and if the area is covered (occlusion).
Skin thinning after a few weeks of use can occur but the skin goes back to normal if the product is stopped for a while
Burning, stinging and irritation can sometimes occur
Reduced skin tone
Acne and infections in hair follicles
Dermatitis around the mouth or rosacea on stopping the steroid
Glaucoma and cataracts if steroids get into the eye
Contact dermatitis to ingredients in the steroid cream

A: Eldercoid Lipocream : Store between 15º -25º C
