Composition:

Permethrin, a pyrethroid, is active against a broad range of pests including lice, ticks, fleas, mites, and other arthropods

Higher Cure rate & safety when compared to Lindane & Ivermecctin.

Safe in infants as young as 2 months, breast feeding & pregnant women with a cure rate of over 90% after single application.

Clinical Phamacology

It acts on the nerve cell membrane to disrupt the sodium channel current by which the polarization of the membrane is regulated. Delayed repolarization and paralysis of the pests are the consequences of this disturbance.

Permethrin is rapidly metabolized by ester hydrolysis to inactive metabolites which are excreted primarily in the urine.

Indication & Uses

Permethrin 5% cream, is indicated for the treatment of infestation with Sarcoptes scabiei (scabies).

Precaution

Scabies infestation is often accompanied by pruritus, edema, and erythema. Treatment with Permethrin cream 5% may temporarily exacerbate these conditions.

Pregnancy & Nursing Mother

As per report of United Kingdom National Guideline on the Management of Scabies Infestation (2007),Permethrin is Safe during pregnancy & breastfeeding.

Pediatric Use: Safe & effective in pediatric patients

Adverse Reaction:

Generally mild and transient burning and stinging followed application with Permethrin cream. Pruritus Erythema, numbness, tingling, and rash were
also reported. Other adverse events include: headache, fever, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea and nausea and/or vomiting.

Dosage & Administration

Adults and Children: Thoroughly massage Eldermis Smite Cream into the skin from the head to the soles of the feet.
The cream should be removed by washing (shower or bath) after 8 to 14 hours. ONE APPLICATION IS GENERALLY CURATIVE.

4. What are Indications or Uses?
A: Eldermis Smite Cream 5% is indicated for the treatment of infestation with Sarcoptes scabiei (scabies).

5. What is the right dose?
A: Adults and Children: Thoroughly massage Eldermis Smite Cream into the skin from the head to the soles of the feet. The cream should be removed by washing (shower or bath) after 8 to 14 hours. ONE APPLICATION IS GENERALLY CURATIVE.

6. What are Precautions while taking the Products?
A: Patients with scabies should be advised that itching, mild burning and/or stinging may occur after application of Permethrin cream 5%. Patients should be advised to avoid contact with eyes during application and to flush with water immediately if Permethrin cream 5%, gets in the eyes.

7. Which drugs should be avoided along it?
A: Talk to your doctor before talking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines. You may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you are taking any of the medicine.

8. Who cannot take medicine?
A: Permethrin 5% cream, is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components, to any synthetic pyrethroid or pyrethrin

9. What is common and rare adverse effect of the medicine?
A: No instance of accidental ingestion of Permethrin cream 5% has been reported. Excessive topical use may result in increased irritation and erythema.

10. How to store the medicine?
